Merry Christmas, Happy New Year etc. etc.

Posted by: The Lorax in: ● December 18, 2008

Hello, my faithful readers.  You may have noticed that ISFTT has not been updated for quite some time.  I am taking December off, since there’s a fair bit of travelling to do and I want to spend my Christmas and New Years far from an internets connection.

Regular service will resume in January with the Orchid Showcase, leading up to the 2009 Andean Orchid Summit in Quito.

So, I wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Channuka, Merry Kwanzaa, Joyous Winter Solstice, Happy Holidays, and a fruitful and prosperous New Year!

Guarana, growing in the Amazon below El Coca, Orellana Province.  A trailing or climbing vine with striking flowers, Guarana is common to the Amazon basin, especially in Brazil, and are also cultivated for their high-caffeine beans, which are as much as three times higher in caffeine than coffee beans.  Guarana is a common additive in energy drinks, and very popular in Peru and Brazil where it is cultivated on a large scale.  The Brazillian Guarani tribe give their name to the plant.
